The service
Nectarcast is run by Luke Briggs in Tasmania, Australia. It estimates when nectar flows are likely to start, from weather records and the observations you log.
Forecasts are estimates
Every forecast is a window built from past weather and a small number of observations. It can be wrong, and plants respond to more than warmth. Use it alongside what you see in your hives, not instead of it. Nectarcast is not responsible for decisions made on a forecast.
Cost
Nectarcast is free while it is in development. Accounts created during that time stay free for life. If paid plans are ever introduced, that will not change for those accounts.
Your data
What you log stays yours. You give Nectarcast permission to store it and use it to produce your forecasts, and — unless you turn pooling off for a site — to contribute that site's anonymised thresholds to the shared pool described in the privacy policy.
Fair use
Please log what you actually see. Do not try to identify other beekeepers' sites, to flood the pool with invented observations, or to load the service in ways that would degrade it for others. Accounts that do may be closed.
Availability
Nectarcast is in development and offered as is. It may change, be unavailable at times, or, with notice, close; if it does, you will be able to ask for a copy of your data first.
